Twitter is one of the world's most popular social networking sites, and for good reason. They are a great source for news, entertainment, hobbies and other interests, and more. It's very easy to set up and use an account, even for seniors. Here are a few basic instructions.
When you visit Twitter.com, you'll see a SIGNUP 'button' on the top right. After you click on it, you will be asked for your first and last name, an email address or mobile phone number, and a password that you choose. Next, it's time to create a unique username. You'll be given a few suggestions, which will usually be some combination of your name. However, you can make up a fun nickname like GrouchyGrandpa or GorgeousGranny.
Now it's time to pick some accounts to follow. You'll see several suggestions that you can select or deselect. There will also be a search box for you to look up users. You can type in the name of a person or an organization that you would like to get updates from. You can also type in a search term like 'housekeeping' or 'dogs'. If you would like to get information relevant to seniors and their families, two great accounts to follow are @AgeLite365 and @CaringSrService.
If you want to be an active user rather than just an observer, you can add a nice profile picture and description, and send out some of your own tweets.
